Digital Drawings

These “digital drawings” are based on my original drawings in black and red charcoal.  I imported photographs of the drawings into Adobe Photoshop and then used parts of them – or in some cases, the whole drawing – to create new images.  By duplicating, distorting, cutting, pasting, and fusing details or full replicas of my early drawings, I developed new organic forms relating to human anatomy and plant life.  I also employed color to explore the imagery further, with palettes ranging from sepias to saturated, bold hues. Some images have a soft, embryonic quality and refer to birth and growth, while others are made with strong lines describing figures or vertebral forms.

ALL IMAGES BELOW ARE DIGITAL PRINTS. SIZES GENERALLY RANGE FROM 20″ X 30″ TO 30″ X 40″
